Fallout: Wasteland Warfare is the new miniatures game based on the post-apocalyptic RPG – and it looks amazing

Here’s something we didn’t expect: the next massive video game series to come to the tabletop will be post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout.

In fact, Fallout: Wasteland Warfare won’t just be a board game, it’ll be an entire range of official 32mm miniatures with a brand new game system designed by Achtung! Cthulhu and Mutant Chronicles publisher Modiphius.

Modiphius founder Chris Birch has confirmed that the game will draw from several titles in the long-running series, which began with the 1997 PC RPG and was last expanded by 2015’s Fallout 4.

Among the figures teased in the first announcement image are the armour-clad Brotherhood of Steel soldiers, human wastelanders, floating eyebots, sentry turrets, deathclaws and even a Nuka Cola vending machine. All of the resin models will come unpainted with scenic bases.

As well as player-versus-player skirmishes, Wasteland Warfare will support co-operative and solo play through a set of narrative-led missions, with players controlling crews exploring the radiated wastes of America. The number of miniatures supported will apparently range from a handful up to more than 30 individual figures.

What’s pleasantly surprising is that there won’t be a Kickstarter for the game, with Modiphius’ Fallout spin-off instead heading straight to shops – although there will apparently be some goodies for those who choose to pre-order.
